How to: Modify Shortcut Keys
Several shortcut keys have changed in the RoleTailored client in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. These shortcut keys have changed for two reasons:
To avoid conflicts with shortcut keys in the Windows operating system.
To align with shortcut keys in the Windows operating system.
For example, in the Classic client, to insert a new item, you press F3. Generally, in the Windows operating system, F3 is used to search. In the RoleTailored client, to insert a new item, you can either press CTRL+N, or you can press F8. In the RoleTailored client, F3 is used to search.
To add or change shortcut keys in the RoleTailored client, use the following procedure.
Before you begin this procedure, you must do the following:
Install the Transformation Input File (TIF) Editor. For detailed steps, see.
Add your forms to the TIF Editor, either by importing the transformation input files for the standard application forms, or by using the Get Forms command. For more information, see the following topics:
For more information about shortcut keys in the Classic client and in the RoleTailored client, see the Keyboard Shortcuts topic in the Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 RoleTailored Client Help.
To change a shortcut in the Classic client to a different shortcut in the RoleTailored client, use the following procedure.
To modify shortcut keys
In the Transformation Forms window, click Input, point to Move, and then select Shortcuts.
In the Shortcuts – Move Elements window, in the Name column, enter the shortcut key that you want to change or modify.
The shortcut keys in the ShortCuts – Move Elements window apply to the entire client application. They are not specific to any one form.
In the NewName column, enter the new shortcut key.
If the NewName column is blank, then the same shortcut that is in the Name column will be used in the RoleTailored client.
The following illustration shows an example of the ShortCuts - Move Elements window.
Close the Shortcuts - Move Elements window to save your changes.
