Determines if the table supports read consistency.

Type: Record

Refers to the table that you want to check for read consistency.

Type: Boolean

Specifies whether read consistency is supported.

true if the table supports read consistency; otherwise, false.

The advantage of read consistency is that a snapshot of the data can be used when you do not want the data to change during the transaction. For example, you can print a report and be sure that other users have not updated the report data. Further, this function does not negatively affect the concurrency of the system in a multiuser environment.

The Classic Database Server supports read consistency as an integral part of the database architecture. SQL Server does not support this feature. It implements a consistent snapshot by locking data as it is read to prevent other users from changing it. This significantly reduces concurrency for tables that are frequently accessed by multiple users.
