Other strings

The literal string entered

The strings in the preceding table must be entered literally, using the < and > characters. These special strings can be combined, and can also be mixed with other characters.

The default is value is a quote (<">).

CR refers to the character with ASCII value 13.

LF refers to the character with ASCII value 10.

FieldEndDelimiter is only used if FileFormat Property is set to Variable. Otherwise, the setting is ignored.

The string defined as FieldEndDelimiter is used in addition to the string defined as FieldSeparator Property. The intended use is when the fields include characters that are themselves delimiters. If it is not necessary to use FieldEndDelimiter for this purpose, set it to a value of <None>.

When importing, the delimiters can be present in the file. The following example shows what would happen if FieldStartDelimiter and FieldEndDelimiter are equal to " and FieldSeparator is equal to ,.

a,"b",c,"text with comma,",d

The result would be broken into fields like this:

text with comma,
