IAMTimelineObj::GetUserData method

[The feature associated with this page, DirectShow, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine, and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation. Those features have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use MediaPlayer, IMFMediaEngine and Audio/Video Capture in Media Foundation instead of DirectShow, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

Note

[Deprecated. This API may be removed from future releases of Windows.]

The GetUserData method retrieves the application-defined persistent data.

Syntax

HRESULT GetUserData(
   BYTE *pData,
   long *pSize
);

Parameters

pData

Pointer to a buffer that receives the data. To determine the size of buffer to allocate, set this parameter to NULL. The required size is returned in pSize.

pSize

Receives the size of the data, in bytes.

Return value

If this method succeeds, it returns S_OK. Otherwise, it returns an HRESULT error code.
