How to Disable or Enable Devices

The RFID administrator uses the disable or enable device feature to change the device status from a failed or manually disabled state to an enabled state.

You can also use this feature to temporarily disable a device. Typically, a device is disabled while you are performing device maintenance operations. Regardless of the status of the device, you can enable or disable a device.

noteNote
To release a device from any Disabled state (except Disabled - Maintenance state), right-click the device, and then click Enable.

To disable a device

  1. Click the Devices node.

  2. In the results pane, select the enabled device that you want to disable.

  3. On the Action menu, click Disable.

noteNote
If the device is currently not enabled, the Enable command appears instead of the Disable command.

noteNote
When the device is disabled, it is no longer available for use by any other processes.

To enable a device

  1. Click the Devices node.

  2. In the results pane, select the disabled device that you want to enable.

  3. On the Action menu, click Enable.

noteNote
If the device is currently not disabled, the Disable command appears instead of the Enable command.

noteNote
The Enable command is the only method that you can use to enable the device.
