System_CAPS_noteNote

The .NET API Reference documentation has a new home. Visit the .NET API Browser on docs.microsoft.com to see the new experience.

When overridden in a derived class, releases all resources used by the current instance of the RandomNumberGenerator class.

Namespace:   System.Security.Cryptography
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

public void Dispose()

Call Dispose when you are finished using the RandomNumberGenerator. The Dispose method leaves the RandomNumberGenerator in an unusable state. After calling Dispose, you must release all references to the RandomNumberGenerator so the garbage collector can reclaim the memory that the RandomNumberGenerator was occupying.

For more information, see Cleaning Up Unmanaged Resources and Implementing a Dispose Method.

System_CAPS_noteNote

Always call Dispose before you release your last reference to the RandomNumberGenerator. Otherwise, the resources it is using will not be freed until the garbage collector calls the RandomNumberGenerator object's Finalize method.
