Installing Expression Development Server

During this process you may be asked to close running programs, and you may also be asked to provide the CD or network location that you used for your installation of Expression Web.

To install Expression Development Server on Windows XP

You must install Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or later before installing Microsoft Expression Web in order for Expression Development Server to install properly. If you install the .NET Framework after installing Expression Web, Expression Development Server will not be installed. To work around this issue, install Expression Development Server first.

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.

  3. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft Expression Web in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change.

  4. In the Microsoft Expression Web dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click Continue.

  5. In the Customize how Expression Web will run list, expand Microsoft Expression Web, click the arrow to the left of Expression Development Server, click Run from My Computer or Installed on First Use, and then click Continue. If you select Run from My Computer, Expression Development Server will be installed right away. If you select Installed on First Use, Expression Development Server will be installed the first time you use it.

To install Expression Development Server on Windows Vista

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  2. In Control Panel, under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

  3. In the Uninstall or change a program list, click Microsoft Expression Web, and then click Change.

  4. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.

  5. In the Microsoft Expression Web dialog box, select Add or Remove Features, and then click Continue.

  6. In the Customize how Expression Web will run list, expand Microsoft Expression Web, click the arrow to the left of Expression Development Server, click Run from My Computer or Installed on First Use, and then click Continue. If you select Run from My Computer, Expression Development Server will be installed right away. If you select Installed on First Use, Expression Development Server will be installed the first time you try to use it.
