Save an embedded picture

When you use Microsoft Expression Web to edit a picture, such as cropping, or resizing and resampling, you are prompted to save the picture when you save the page that contains it. At that time, the Save Embedded Files dialog box lets you choose to either overwrite the original file or save the edited picture to a new file.

To save an edited picture

  1. For a web page that contains an edited picture, on the File menu, click Save.

  2. In the Save Embedded Files dialog box, do the following:

    Use this To do this

    Embedded files to save

Select the picture you want to save.

    Picture File Type

    Change the file type.

    Rename

Leave the original picture as it is and create a new file for the edited picture.

    Change Folder

Leave the original picture as it is and create a new file in a different folder for the edited picture.

    Set Action

Leave the original picture as it is and resize its dimensions instead of cropping it. In the Set Action dialog box, select Don't overwrite the existing file. Make the page refer to the existing file, and then click OK.
