Incrementally search a page

The Incremental Search command enables you to quickly locate characters and code in an open document, such as a web page or CSS file.

To incrementally search a page

1. Open the document you want to search, and then put your cursor where you want the search to start.

2. On the Edit menu, click Incremental Search . Your cursor changes to .

3. Type the characters you want to find. As you type, the characters you type appear in the status bar at the bottom of the program window, and the first instance of the characters you have typed is highlighted in the page.

4. To locate the next instance of the characters you typed, do one of the following:

   • To search for the next instance, press F3.

   • To search for the previous instance, press SHIFT+F3.

5. To stop incrementally searching, do one of the following:

   • Click in your page.

   • Press either ESC or ENTER.
