Copy and reuse formatting

You can copy all attributes of text or an object, such as a layer, and apply that formatting to other text or objects by using Format Painter Cc295128.c668b392-45cf-4f6c-a5aa-16301afb669e(en-us,Expression.40).png.

Note

The Format Painter button is not available if the Style Application is set to Manual. For more information, see Style Application toolbar.

To reuse formatting

  1. In Design view or Code view, in your web page, select the characters, paragraphs, or objects that have the formatting you want to copy. To copy the formatting of an entire paragraph, make sure the selection includes the starting and ending <p> tags (<p> and </p>).

  2. Do one of the following:

    • To apply the formatting to a single selection of text or a single object, on the Standard toolbar, click Format Painter Cc295128.c668b392-45cf-4f6c-a5aa-16301afb669e(en-us,Expression.40).png, and then select the text or object to which you want to apply the formatting.

    • To apply the formatting to multiple selections of text or objects, on the Standard toolbar, double-click Format Painter Cc295128.c668b392-45cf-4f6c-a5aa-16301afb669e(en-us,Expression.40).png, and then select the text or objects to which you want to apply the formatting in succession. Click Format Painter Cc295128.c668b392-45cf-4f6c-a5aa-16301afb669e(en-us,Expression.40).png when you are done.
