Resize a layer
You can set the dimensions of a layer by specifying its values numerically or by dragging the layer's outline.
In your web page, in Design view, point at a side or corner handle of the layer and start dragging when your pointer icon appears as a double-headed arrow.
You can use the following features to help you determine the size of the layer.
As you drag a layer handle, the current dimensions appear in the middle of the layer.
As you drag a layer handle, blue guide lines appear from the center of the top and left sides to the edge of the web page. On layers that use absolute positioning, blue guide lines also appear from the right and bottom edges of the layer.
When you point at a side handle on the left or right side of the layer, the width of the layer appears in a pop-up box next to your pointer.
When you point at a side handle on the top or bottom side of the layer, the height of the layer appears.
When you point at a corner handle, both the width and height appear.
Select the layer you want to modify and then do one of the following:
In the Positioning toolbar, specify values in the Width and Height boxes.
In the CSS Properties panel, under CSS Properties, specify values in the Width and Height boxes.
On the Format menu, click Position. In the Position dialog box, specify a value in the Width and Height boxes, and then click OK.
