Move objects

Moving an object on a page is sometimes referred to as "translating it."

To move an object by using the Action Bar

Although you can use the selection tools in the toolbox to drag an object wherever you want, the Action Bar offers the benefit of numeric precision. For example, the Action Bar lets you move an object an exact distance, such as 24 pixels to the right and 14 pixels down.

  1. Select one or more objects.

  2. In the Action Bar, click the Options icon Cc295082.580a6978-9a74-422a-b48e-61739a9087b7(en-us,Expression.40).png, and then click Relative Transform.

  3. Type or select the amount you want to move the selection in the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axes. Positive values move an object to the right or up. Negative values move it to the left or down.

Note that you can translate one or more individual nodes on a path by first selecting them with the Direct Selection tool Cc295082.a4e92365-1fd6-473c-b727-1487d8a466c9(en-us,Expression.40).png or Lasso Selection tool Cc295082.81bef400-2dac-4493-9ff4-8a9fc9153a33(en-us,Expression.40).png.
