End a stroke with stroke caps

When you apply a basic stroke to an open path (any path in which the starting and ending points are not joined), you can select how Microsoft Expression Design draws the ends of the stroke by selecting one of three stroke caps.

To select a stroke cap

  1. Select one or more paths in your file.

  2. In the Properties panel, in the Appearance category, click the Show advanced properties button Cc294944.d8b75fcd-4e19-43f5-9363-5b92809bb582(en-us,Expression.40).png.

  3. In the Caps list, select one of the following:

    • Flat cap   The stroke stops exactly at the ending point of the path.

    • Round cap   The stroke extends one-half a stroke width beyond the ending point and adds a semicircle.

    • Square cap   Extends the stroke one-half the stroke width beyond the ending point.

The Caps feature does not affect vector or image brush strokes, but it does work with both B-spline and Bezier paths.
