Global Shortcut Methods

Some methods in the Microsoft AJAX Library are used so often in client script that shortcuts are provided to help streamline your scripts. The following table lists the shortcut methods that are available.

Sys.UI.DomEvent $addHandler Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler method, which adds a DOM event handler to the DOM element that exposes the event.

Sys.UI.DomEvent.$addHandlers Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandlers method, which adds a list of DOM event handlers to the DOM element that exposes the events.

Sys.UI.DomEvent.$clearHandlers Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.UI.DomEvent.clearHandlers method. This method removes all DOM event handlers from a DOM element that were added through the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler or the Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandlers methods.

Sys.Component $create Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.Component.create method, which creates and initializes a component of the specified type.

Sys.Application $find Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.Application.findComponent method, which returns the specified Component object.

Sys.UI.DomElement $get Method

Provides a shortcut to the Sys.UI.DomElement.getElementById method, which gets a DOM element that has the specified id attribute.

Sys.UI.DomEvent $removeHandler Method

Provides a shortcut to the System.UI.DomEvent.removeHandler method, which removes a DOM event handler from the DOM element that exposes the event.
