User Interface Reference (Microsoft Document Explorer Help)

Microsoft Document Explorer user interface (UI) provides you with the flexibility to view information for different files simultaneously without cluttering your workspace with separate document windows that are spread across the screen. Instead, document windows are docked together to form a tabbed group of windows, in the same way that the Contents and Index windows are tabbed together.

A tab, which displays the title of each topic, is attached to the top of each document window in the group. The tab for the active window is shown with a gray background and black text. Tabs for additional windows are shown adjacent to the active window tab in gray text. Document window tabs can be used both to select and move document windows. For more information about using explorer windows, see Managing Help Windows.
