How to: Monitor Speech Server with MOM 2005

Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 is a separately licensed system that provides a comprehensive monitoring framework and operations management platform. To monitor Speech Server with MOM 2005, you must import the Speech Server Management Pack, which provides a predefined, ready-to-run set of processing rules designed specifically for monitoring the performance and availability of Speech Server processes. The Speech Server Management Pack provides rules for the following objectives:

  • Monitoring important errors, warnings, and informational events that are placed in the application event log by Speech Server.
  • Monitoring service availability.
  • Monitoring performance data.
  • Alerting operators to critical problems.

Importing the Speech Server Management Pack

To import the Speech Server Management Pack

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Operations Manager 2005, and then click Administrator Console.

  2. In the MOM Administrator Console, click Import Management Packs.

  3. In the Management Pack Import/Export Wizard, click Next, select Import Management Packs and/or report, and then click Next.

  4. Click Browse, select the AdministrativeTools folder in the Speech Server installation directory, click OK, and then click Next.

  5. In the Please select one or more Management Packs to import box, select OCS2007SpeechServer.akm, click Next, and then click Finish.
