To improve the performance of Analytics and Tuning Studio and the Speech Server tuning database, use the following settings.

Analytics and Tuning Studio Settings

To display Analytics and Tuning Studio settings

  1. Open Analytics and Tuning Studio.

    For more information, see How to: Start Analytics and Tuning Studio.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Options.

  3. In the tree view pane on the left, expand Speech Application SDK, and then select Tuning.

The following table shows the recommended settings.

Tuning Database Connection Settings

To view and change tuning database connection settings, use the Connection Properties dialog box. For more information, see the following recommended settings and procedure to display the Connection Properties dialog box.

To display the Connection Properties dialog box

  • On the taskbar, click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 Speech Server, and then click Analytics and Tuning Studio.

In Log on to the Server, select Use Windows Authentication. Windows Authentication is the recommended setting for connecting to the Microsoft SQL??Server database.

To set the connection timeout

  1. In the Connection Properties dialog box, click Advanced.

  2. Under Initialization, select Timeout, and then enter a value.

    The default value for Timeout is 15. 30 is the recommended value for slower computers and across networks.

  3. Click OK.

Grammar Tuning Advisor Settings

To view and change Grammar Tuning Advisor settings, use the Grammar Tuning Advisor Settings dialog box.

To display the Grammar Tuning Advisor Settings dialog box

  1. In Analytics and Tuning Studio, open a view, and then select a particular set of calls.

  2. On the Analytics and Tuning Studio toolbar, click Run Grammar Tuning Advisor.

The default threshold value is 1. It is up to the user to determine how large the call sets are and how high the threshold should be set. This single parameter controls the size of the Grammar Tuning Advisor output, the number of relevant clusters in the results, and how long the analyzer runs.
