How to: Monitor Speech Server with Task Manager

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

Task Manager provides a current view of running programs and processes and their impact on system and network resources. With Task Manager, you can watch the Speech Server processes and determine whether the impact on system resources is consistent with your expectations.

Task Manager provides key information on the following tabs:

  • The Processes tab displays each running process, the percentage of CPU that the process is using, and the amount of memory the process is occupying.
  • The Performance tab displays the aggregate CPU and memory usage.
  • The Networking tab displays network activity on the computer's network interface card (NIC).

Use the information in Task Manager to get a general gauge of overall system health, such as determining whether the Speech Server processes are still active and the network interfaces are active.
