How to: Add or Remove a SIP Peer

You add SIP peers to the Speech Server Administrator console to manage and configure how Speech Server communicates with them. Removing a SIP peer deletes the console access to the Speech Server settings for that SIP peer.

Adding and Removing SIP Peers

To add a SIP peer

  1. Open the Speech Server Administrator console.

For more information, see How to: Start the Speech Server Administrator Console.

  2. In the console tree, right-click SIP Peers, point to New, and then click SIP Peer.

  3. In the Type box, choose Default.

For information about adding a SIP peer as a Telephony Interface Manager Connector (TIMC), see How to: Add Telephony Interface Manager Connector as a SIP Peer.

Default applies to all non-TIMC SIP peers. For more information about SIP peer types, see SIP Peers.

  4. In the Name box, type the name you want to give the SIP peer in the Speech Server Administrator console.

  5. In the Address box, type the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or IP address of the SIP peer.

    Note

Do not begin the last name element of the SIP peer address with a number. For example, 1SIP is not an acceptable address. However, 1SIP.mydomain.com is acceptable.

  6. Depending on the ports configured on the SIP peer for TCP and TLS transmission, select or clear the Use default ports check box.

  7. If the SIP peer is not using default ports, type the ports the SIP peer is using.

For more information, see How to: Specify the SIP Peer Listening Ports.

  8. If transmissions between the SIP peer and Speech Server need to use Mutual Transport Layer Security (TLS), select Enable Mutual TLS.

The computer running Speech Server must be configured with a valid security certificate to use Mutual TLS between the endpoints.

For more information, see How to: Configure a SIP Peer for Mutual TLS.

  9. Click OK.

    Note

When you add a SIP peer, Speech Server attempts to resolve the address and establish communications with it. If it is not able to resolve the address, you can correct the address or, if you know the problem is with the SIP peer or the connectivity, add the SIP peer.

    Note

You can also add, remove, and configure SIP peers through a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) script. For more information, see SIPPeer Class.

To remove a SIP peer

  1. Open the Speech Server Administrator console.

For more information, see How to: Start the Speech Server Administrator Console.

  2. In the console tree, click SIP Peers.

  3. In the details pane, right-click the SIP peer you want to delete, and then click Delete.

  4. If the SIP peer is currently on the trusted list for a Speech Server instance, choose whether to remove the SIP peer from the trusted list by selecting Yes or No.
