Creating Quality Applications
Windows Vista® seeks to provide a user experience where the system and applications "just work." A quality Windows Vista application is compatible, fast, reliable, robust and survivable. To this end, Windows Vista has invested in supplying developers with technologies to provide users quality applications. Chief among these technologies are Shell extensions such as Search Folders, Restart Manager, Data Recovery and Application Restart, Windows Feedback services such as Windows Error Reporting (WER), I/O cancellation management and Windows Diagnostic Infrastructure (WDI). Additional runtime support is provided by new Windows Vista features, such as the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS), Event Tracing for Windows (ETW), User Account Protection (UAP), Mandatory Integrity Control (MIC) and the Windows Resource Protection (WRP).
