Step 4: Viewing and Editing DUA Settings (Windows Embedded Standard 2009)

After DUA runs, you can verify the DUA settings and events by using the Event Viewer, Services MMC Snap-in, and Registry Editor.

Use the following procedures to familiarize yourself with the different configurations you can create with DUA.

To use the Event Viewer

From the Start Menu, choose Run and type eventvwr. The Event Viewer opens.
Select the Applications node. The Application events appear in the MMC details pane.
Find the DUAgent Actions. Verify that DUA started and that there are no errors.

Open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) from the Start Menu by choosing Run, then typing mmc. The Microsoft Management Console appears.
To view the services running on the system, you must add the Computer Management (Local) Snap-in to the MMC interface. From the File menu, choose Add/Remove Snap-in. The Add/Remove Snap-in window appears.
1. Choose Add. The Add Standalone Snap-in window appears.
2. Select the Computer Management snap-in and choose Add. When prompted, select Local Administration and choose Finish.
3. The Computer Management snap-in is added to the MMC Console.
Select Services. The services information appears.
Under the Device Update Agent Service entry, you can view the Description, Startup Type, and Log on As values.

From the Start Menu, choose Run and type regedit. The Registry Editor opens.
DUA configurations can be edited in the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DUAgent\Parameters\Config
