Connection Manager Network Topology

The following diagram illustrates a sample operator network.

In this operator's network, there is a GPRS network, a WAP 2.0 portal, and a legacy WAP 1.x portal. Both the GPRS network and the WAP 2.0 gateway can connect directly to the Internet. The WAP 2.0 gateway connects to the WAP 2.0 portal over HTTP, and the WAP 1.x gateway is used for legacy portal access.
This physical network topology can be translated into different logical topologies in the Connection Manager, depending on the requirements of the operator. The following diagram illustrates a sample logical Connection Manager network topology corresponding to the sample physical topology illustrated above.

In this logical topology, provisioning XML was used to define a proxy connection from the GPRS network to the WAP 2.0 network. This way, all network traffic can be routed to the Internet through the WAP 2.0 gateway. **
The logical topology of the network can changed based on the configuration of the Connection Manager. While this logical network topology is related to the physical topology, the topologies are not necessarily identical.
