Binary (EDM)

[This topic is pre-release documentation and is subject to change in future releases. Blank topics are included as placeholders.]

The binary type represents fixed or variable length binary data. This type maps to the binary type or the varbinary type in SQL Server. Specify length in bytes.

The binary type supports EDM simple type facets of FixedLength and MaxLength.

The FixedLength facet is a Boolean value that indicates whether the length can vary. The length of a FixedLength Binary property is set in the data source and reflected in the definition of the property in store schema definition language (SSDL), as in Type="varbinary(n)".

The MaxLength facet is a positive integer with values ranging from 1 to 231. The maximum size of the declared binary data type value is specified by the value of the MaxLength facet.
