Explicit Conversion (XElement to Nullable(UInt32))

XElement Narrowing Conversion (XElement to Nullable(Of UInt32))

Cast the value of this XElement to a Nullable(Of T) of UInt32.

This API is not CLS-compliant.

Namespace:   System.Xml.Linq
Assembly:  System.Xml.Linq (in System.Xml.Linq.dll)

Public Shared Narrowing Operator CType (
	element As XElement
) As Nullable(Of UInteger)

Type: System.Xml.Linq.XElement

The XElement to cast to Nullable(Of T) of UInt32.

Return Value

Type: System.Nullable(Of UInt32)

A Nullable(Of T) of UInt32 that contains the content of this XElement.

Exception Condition

The element does not contain a valid UInt32 value.

The following example creates an element with unsigned integer content. It then retrieves the value by casting to Nullable(Of T) of UInt32.

Dim root As XElement = _
Dim value As Nullable(Of UInteger) = CType(root.Element("Value"), Nullable(Of UInteger))
Console.WriteLine("Nullable uint: value={0}", IIf(value.HasValue, value.ToString(), "null"))

This example produces the following output:

Nullable uint: value=4294967295
