Deploying Custom Reports

Reports can be customized by opening any of the predefined reports in Business Contact Manager for Outlook and then modifying their properties. Properties that can be modified are layouts, displayed fields, and filter criteria. Modified reports can be saved as custom .bcr files. These files can then be copied to other computers that are running Business Contact Manager for Outlook and then viewed as custom reports.

Modify a report

  1. Open the report that you want to modify.

  2. On the Report toolbar, click Modify Report.

  3. In the Modify Report pane, click Filters, Columns, Fonts and Numbers, or Header and Footer to modify your report.

  4. On the File menu, click Save Report As, type a name for the report, and then click Save.

Save the .bcr file to a known location.

Now you can copy the .bcr file as part of your custom solution setup to any computer running Business Contact Manager for Outlook, simply by copying it to the computer.

In order to view this report in Outlook, do the following:

  1. Open Outlook, click Business Contact Manager, point to Reports, and then click Open Saved Report.
  2. In the Open dialog box, click the saved .bcr file.
