Subordination

Subordination is a type of control interoperation. A subordinate control is one that is made active by the selection of another (superior) control. Subordination is useful when you want to indicate to the user that some decisions are contingent upon another decision. In the following figure, the Select model text box is subordinate to the Select manufacturer drop-down list box. The Select model text box remains unavailable until the user first specifies a manufacturer.

For more information regarding a specific type of control, see the topic dedicated to that control type.
