X12 Interchange Processing Properties Page (EDI Global Properties)

The properties included in this page define how BizTalk Server processes the envelope and transaction sets of an X12-encoded interchange that it receives when it cannot identify a party for the sender of the interchange. The role of BizTalk is as an interchange receiver.

This page of the EDI Properties dialog box is displayed by right-clicking the Parties node in the BizTalk Server Administration Console, clicking EDI Global Properties, and then clicking X12 Interchange Processing Properties under the X12 Properties node in the console tree.

This number consists of three fields: a prefix, a number, and a suffix. The number field is a required numeric field. The prefix and suffix fields are optional alphanumeric fields. The maximum length of all three fields is 9. The maximum length of the prefix and suffix fields is 8.

The default value is 1 in the number field. If this number has not been changed by clicking Edit, and then entering a new number, BizTalk Server will set the transaction set control number for the next interchange sent to this party to 1, and then will increment the number for each subsequent interchange.
