Talk to Us
We're interested in your ideas for improving our documentation. We can’t respond personally, but we’ll make sure your feedback gets to the right person.
Please use our feedback button (Was this page helpful?) at the bottom of the page. You can find this button on all MSDN pages. If you’re looking for an answer and you can’t find it, please tell us what information you’re looking for.
If you are running into issues using Visual Studio such as crashes, sluggish performance, unexpected behavior, and so on, please report the problem to us by right-clicking on the feedback icon (or clicking on Help in the main menu) and choosing Report a Problem.
We recommend the following when reporting a problem:
Title – Keep it short and sweet. Use keywords that help identify the issue and its context.
Description and Repro Steps – We love repro steps! The better the repro steps you give us, the easier (and more likely!) it is for us to find and fix the issue.
Problem Area – Give us your best guess on where you think your problem belongs. There’s no penalty in getting it wrong, and we simply use it to make sure the right team is looking at your issue.
Your email address – In some cases, even after you give us the most detailed feedback, we might still have a hard time reproducing the issue. If you give us your email address we can work with you to find a solution. We promise, no spam.
Edit your screenshot or attach files – By default, we include a screenshot when you report a problem. You can choose not to send one, but we highly recommend including it for a faster turnaround time. We also recommend attaching additional files such as sample project files that will help us debug your problem.
Record your actions to reproduce the issue – The recorder tracks the steps you take to reproduce the issue, and takes a trace at the same time. This is extremely useful for us when we debug. The recorder is not taking a video recording of your screen.
If there's something we can do better please let us know! Choose Provide a Suggestion to suggest a feature or change to the Visual Studio team. Your suggestion will automatically be posted to UserVoice where others can vote for for it.
Pre-release versions of Visual Studio have a Rate this Product menu item that enables you to send feedback on the quality of the build you are running. You won't see this in released versions of the product.
