Project item was not upgraded

Visual Studio .NET 2003

An item in the Visual Basic 6.0 project could not be upgraded because it is of a type not supported by Visual Basic .NET. The item was copied into the new project directory; however, it cannot be opened in Visual Studio .NET.

What to do next

Review the help topic Things to Consider Before Upgrading, which contains a list of unsupported features.

  • In some cases unsupported features can be used in Visual Basic .NET after some modification in Visual Basic 6.0.
  • In most cases you should be able to duplicate the functionality of the project item using the new features of Visual Basic .NET.
  • If the referenced item is critical to the project and cannot easily be duplicated, you may need to reconsider your upgrade decision.
