IHostedServiceOperations.AddExtensionAsync Method

Asynchronously adds an available extension to a cloud service.

Namespace: Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Management.Compute
Assembly: Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Management.Compute (in Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Management.Compute.dll)

Usage

'Usage
Dim instance As IHostedServiceOperations
Dim serviceName As String
Dim parameters As HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters
Dim cancellationToken As CancellationToken
Dim returnValue As Task(Of OperationStatusResponse)

returnValue = instance.AddExtensionAsync(serviceName, parameters, cancellationToken)

Syntax

'Declaration
Function AddExtensionAsync ( _
    serviceName As String, _
    parameters As HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters, _
    cancellationToken As CancellationToken _
) As Task(Of OperationStatusResponse)
Task<OperationStatusResponse> AddExtensionAsync (
    string serviceName,
    HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters parameters,
    CancellationToken cancellationToken
)
Task<OperationStatusResponse^>^ AddExtensionAsync (
    String^ serviceName,
    HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters^ parameters,
    CancellationToken cancellationToken
)
Task<OperationStatusResponse> AddExtensionAsync (
    String serviceName,
    HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters parameters,
    CancellationToken cancellationToken
)
function AddExtensionAsync (
    serviceName : String,
    parameters : HostedServiceAddExtensionParameters,
    cancellationToken : CancellationToken
) : Task<OperationStatusResponse>

Parameters

  • serviceName
    The name of the cloud service to which the extension should be added.
  • cancellationToken
    The cancellation token.

Return Value

The ComputeOperationStatusResponse object that contains the status of the operation.

Remarks

If the asynchronous operation succeeds, the response includes the HTTP status code for the successful request. If the asynchronous operation failed, the response includes the HTTP status code for the failed request, and also includes error information about the failure.

In Azure, a process can run as an extension of a cloud service. For example, Remote Desktop Access or the Azure Diagnostics Agent can run as extensions to the cloud service.
