4.1 Product Behavior

<1> Section 3.3: The NetrDfsAddRootTarget method is not supported on the following: Windows NT operating system, Windows NT Server 4.0 operating system, Windows 2000 Server operating system, Windows Server 2003 operating system, and Windows Server 2003 R2 operating system. The Windows client uses the NetrDfsAddRootTarget method to create the domain-based namespace if a user has enabled Windows 2008 mode. Otherwise, it uses the NetrDfsAddFtRoot method.

<2> Section 3.3: In Windows, the DFS Management snap-in is used as the admin tool. When a domain administrator uses the DFS Management snap-in to create a replication group object, the IADProxy::CreateObject method is not used; instead, a direct LDAP call is used to create the replication group object.
