The referenced component is missing a design-time license
The application that you are upgrading contains the referenced component, which requires a design-time license. The license file is missing, or may have been moved to a different location.
Some ActiveX controls or components require a license in order to be used in Visual Basic. At design time, when you add the control to a form, a check is made for a license file on the development computer; if not found, the control cannot be used.
Tip You should always test your application in Visual Basic 6.0 on the development computer before upgrading. If it runs in Visual Basic 6.0, this upgrade error will not occur.
To correct this error
- Determine if the referenced component is actually required for your application; if not, you can remove the control and ignore this warning.
- If the component is required, you will need to install the license file on your development computer. The license file is usually installed into the same directory as the component.
Note You may need to check the documentation for the component to determine how to install the license file. Licensing terms for some components restrict installation to a single computer.
