Platform Management
A platform identifies the operating system (OS) on which a run-time image is based. All components, resources, and repositories are associated with a specific platform. Properties defined in a platform affect all components within the platform.
Note Microsoft recommends that you do not delete a platform. Deleting platforms from the database can render all Windows Embedded Studio tools inoperable. If no platforms exist in the database, you are forced to reinstall your database. Any component definition (.sld) or configuration (.slx) file that references a specific platform cannot be opened if that platform is not available in the database.
