Primitive: AuthZ
The Primitive: AuthZ component provides the authz.dll, which contains the AuthZ application. AuthZ is a user-mode API that is provided for use by resource management applications, for example, database servers that protect objects by using the Windows NT security model. AuthZ represents security contexts with user-mode data structures instead of using kernel-based access tokens. This strategy increases performance because security access checks no longer require kernel-mode systems calls. AuthZ can further boost performance by caching the results of access checks.
