Class Installers / Hardware Compatibility

The Class Installers/Hardware Compatibility component is a macro component that bundles class installers. By using this component, you can quickly preinstall all class installer components on your device. Preinstalling class installers can prevent problems from occurring when class installers that were not anticipated during design time must later be installed.

For more information about the associated services, components, and settings for the included components, see their individual reference pages.

Associated Components

This macro component has a component dependency on every class installer component that the Windows Embedded Studio component database provides.

Settings

By default, this macro component optionally includes all class installers' components that exist in the Windows Embedded Studio component database. This component can be configured by using Target Designer to exclude optional components from the bundle. To reduce the footprint of your run-time image, in Target Designer on the Components tab, clear the check boxes for all components that are not required in your configuration.

Notes

Every driver is associated with a class installer that it requires for its installation. If the correct class installer is not installed before driver installation, your device will not work properly.

You can also use this component to troubleshoot hardware issues that are related to missing dependencies and application compatibility.
