Safe Mode Support

The Safe Mode Support component provides a set of registry keys that are required to enable safe mode on a computer running Microsoft® Windows®. When a computer starts in standard safe mode, it uses a configuration that contains only the drivers and services that are necessary for the computer to boot. By adding the Safe Mode Support component to a run-time image, you make it possible for users of your target device to enter safe mode by pressing the F8 key.

Notes

There are three basic types of safe mode: Safe Mode (standard), Safe Mode With Networking, and Safe Mode With Command Prompt. Safe Mode With Networking includes additional network-related drivers and services. Safe Mode With Command Prompt causes Windows to run the command prompt application (Cmd.exe) as the shell instead of running Windows Explorer.
