What's new in MapPoint
This version of Microsoft MapPoint has several new features, including:
One-way streets
One-way streets now show on rendered maps with directional arrows.
Extended Programmability
A method was added for exporting an area of a map to Pocket Streets. Another method returns a Location object for a given UK Ordnance Survey Grid reference string without changing the map view. In addition, you can now programmatically print maps on a full page.
See New methods for more information.
Pushpin improvements
MapPoint includes 60 new Pushpin symbols. You can change the way Pushpins appear on the map by choosing one of 336 symbols or one of your own custom symbols.
See About Pushpins and Pushpin sets for more information.
Print full-page maps
You can now print a map full-page when printing the current map view. The printed area of a full-page map extends the current map view to include as much of the map as fits on the page.
See About printing for more information.
Updated map with new data
The updated map includes new streets and highways, new addresses, and updated highway exit numbers.
See About address coverage areas for more information.
Import street address information for Canada
You can now import and pinpoint street addresses in Canada.
See Import addresses to a map for more information.
Clear Find History option
As you work on a map, you may want to clear all the places you have found on the map, but do not want to create a new map to clear the found places. In the Options dialog box you can now erase all of the found addresses, cities, ZIP/postal codes and Places/Data for all countries. You can also set MapPoint to clear these found locations each time you exit the program.
See Find an address or intersection on the map for more information.
Global Positioning System (GPS) support in Pocket Streets
With a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver connected to your Pocket PC, you can see your current location on the Pocket Streets map. With a GPS receiver installed, Pocket Streets checks your location real-time and displays it on the map. You can choose to have the map always centered on your current location. Using the GPS Sensor in Pocket Streets, you can also view the latitude and longitude coordinates of your current location.
See About GPS receivers for more information.
Enhanced GPS functionality
Microsoft MapPoint no longer waits 15 seconds between updates of your location when using GPS. The application now checks for your position once every second when a GPS receiver is connected to your computer. Also, there is better compatibility with a wider range of GPS devices in this release.
