Metabase Structure

Internet Information Services (IIS) stores the metabase configuration and schema in plain-text, Extensible Markup Language (XML)-formatted files, unlike previous versions of IIS that used a single binary file. The advantage of using XML-formatted files is that they are readable with common editing tools, such as Microsoft Notepad.
