Using the SPFile.Convert Method in SharePoint Server 2010 (ECM)

Last modified: January 14, 2010

Applies to: SharePoint Server 2010

To convert documents programmatically, you call the Convert method in the object model. This method has several parameters that enable you to specify exactly how you want the conversion to be performed. Be aware, however, that some of the optional method parameters are actually required when invoking the method using certain built-in document converters included with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.

Following is a list of the Convert method parameters that require special instructions for built-in document SharePoint Server 2010 converters.

  • handlerAssembly   For the Microsoft InfoPath 2010 document converters included in SharePoint Server 2010, this is a required parameter and should be set to the following value.

    "Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c"

  • handlerClass   For the InfoPath 2010 document converters included in SharePoint Server 2010, this is a required parameter and should be set to the following value.

    "Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.DocumentConversion"
