Find and replace Form [AX 2012]

Use this form to search the source code of a method or job for a text string.

Note
The search starts from the current cursor position and proceeds down, and does not restart at the top after reaching the bottom.

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Field

Description

Find

Search for a text string in the code.

Use the additional syntax from the following table in your search criteria, if needed.

Syntax

Syntax	Character description	Description
\	Quote-character	\$ matches a dollar sign.
"< or ^"	Begin-line character	Aless than (<) sign or a circumflex (^) at the start of an expression is used to match the start of a line.
"> or $"	End-line character	"; matches a ";" at the end of a line.
?	Single wildcard	? matches any character except new-line.
:a	Alphabetic	:a matches any alphabetic character.
:d	Digit	:d matches any digit (09).
:n	Alphanumeric	:n matches any alphanumeric character.
:SPACE	Control character	:SPACE matches spaces, tabs and other control characters (e.g. new-line).
*	Recursive wildcard	f* matches for example "f", "fo", "f1", "foo".
+	Repeat character	fo+ matches "fo", "foo", but not "f".
[xx]	Character set	Match any character in string. [ad] matches "a" and "d".
[x-x]	Character range	[a-d] matches "a", "b", "c" and "d". [d-a] never matches.
[^xx]	Negated character set	Match any character not in string (except new-line). [^ad] matches "y".

Replace

Replace all instances of the specified text string with another text string.

Note
Syntax characters should not be used in the Find what: field.

Button	Description
Find next	Launches the Inquiry form to populate application model information.
Cancel	Cancels the search and closes the dialog box.
Replace	Executes the find and replace.
