Active Directory Services Interfaces (ADSI)

Collaboration Data Objects for Windows 2000 (CDOSYS)

Currently shipping in all versions of Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. No changes are anticipated at this time.

CDOSYS SMTP/NNTP Event Sinks

Currently shipping in all versions of Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. No changes are anticipated at this time.

Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange 2000 Server (CDOEX)

Currently shipping with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. No changes are anticipated at this time.

Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange Management (CDOEXM)

Shipped with Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. CDOWF does not ship with, and is not supported on Exchange Server 2007. The CDOEXM version that ships with Exchange Server 2003 must be used when accessing Exchange Server 2003. The Exchange Server 2003 CDOEXM can also be used to access Exchange 2000 Server. The CDOEXM library that ships with Exchange 2000 Server is not supported for accessing Exchange Server 2003.

Collaboration Data Objects for Exchange Workflow (CDOWF)

Shipped with Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. CDOWF does not ship with, and is not supported on Exchange Server 2007. CDOWF is expected to be enhanced or replaced in a future version of Exchange. Consider using BizTalk for more complicated, inter-organizational, and non-messaging related workflow process implementations.

Exchange OLE DB Provider (ExOLEDB)

Currently shipping with Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. No changes are planned at this time. Future versions after Exchange Server 2003 might not include or provide access to this technology.

Exchange Store Event Sinks

Currently shipping with Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. No changes are planned at this time. Future versions after Exchange Server 2003 might not include or provide access to this technology.

Exchange Web Forms

Shipped with Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. This technology does not ship with, and is not supported for Exchange Server 2007. However, to better ensure long-term compatibility, we recommend that you render the registered forms by using ASP tags instead of by using the Exchange forms renderer tags. Versions of Exchange later than Exchange Server 2003 might not include, or provide access to, this technology.

Exchange Web Services

Currently shipping with Exchange Server 2007.

HTTP/Web Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV)

Currently shipping with Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server 2003. Future versions of Exchange might not include or provide access to this technology.

WebDAV Notifications

WebDAV notifications are available starting with Exchange 2000 Server Service Pack 2 (SP2). Future versions of Exchange might not include or provide access to this technology.

Incremental Change Synchronization (ICS)

ICS is supported in all versions of Exchange. Future versions after Exchange Server 2003 might not include or provide access to this technology.

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

Information about this protocol is not yet available here.

Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI)

A MAPI stub currently ships with all versions of Windows. Microsoft Office installs its own MAPI subsystem when it installs Microsoft Outlook. No changes to MAPI are anticipated at this time.

Outlook Object Model (OOM)

OOM is currently available in all versions of Outlook, and extensions and improvements have been made to each new version of Outlook.

Outlook Web Access

Outlook Web Access is a core component of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and 2007. However, Outlook Web Access features and internal architecture may change without notice.

Exchange Rules

The Exchange rules technology shipped in Exchange 5.5. Although the component does not ship with later versions of Exchange, rules are supported in all versions of Exchange. Future versions after Exchange 2007 might not include, or enable use of, this technology.

SMTP Event Sinks

SMTP event sinks are part of the SMTP service, a component of Internet Information Services.

Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) providers for Exchange

The Exchange 2003 WMI providers are only available on Exchange 2003. The WMI providers do not ship with, and are not supported for Exchange Server 2007.

Exchange Backup and Restore API

The Exchange Backup and Restore API is available on Exchange 2000 Server, Exchange Server 2003 and 2007.

Exchange writer for the Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service

VSS is a component of Windows Server 2003 or later. The Exchange writer is installed when Exchange 2003 or 2007 is installed on Windows Server 2003 or later.
