Measure distances on the map

  1. On the Tools menu, click Measure Distance.

  2. On the map, click the place from which you want to start measuring, and then do the following:

    To draw straight line segments between two places, click point to point.

    To draw a freeform line, drag the pointer in whatever way you want.

    The running total of the distance is displayed as you move your pointer across the map.

  3. Double-click to stop measuring, or press ESC.

Tips

If you want to zoom in or out while measuring a distance, use the (+) and (–) keys on the numeric keypad.

You can change the width or color of a line by using Line Style or Line Color on the Drawing toolbar.
