Install or uninstall Pocket Streets

MapPoint includes Pocket Streets for Pocket PC and Pocket Streets for Smartphone, which can be installed and uninstalled with the program or separately.

To install Pocket Streets

  1. Make sure that you have the correct version of Microsoft ActiveSync® installed on your computer. Pocket Streets for Pocket PC and Pocket Streets for Smartphone require Microsoft ActiveSync® version 3.7 or later.
  2. When you install MapPoint, select the either the Install Pocket Streets for your Pocket PC or the Install Pocket Streets for your Smartphone option button on the Pocket Streets Installation dialog box. By default, the Do not install Pocket Streets at this time option is active when the dialog box displays.
  3. Click Next to continue to the next step in the MapPoint installation.
  4. If your mobile device is connected to your computer, the InstallShield Wizard for Pocket Streets starts automatically when the MapPoint installation is complete. Unless you have a previous version of Pocket Streets installed on your device, click Next to continue the installation. If you have a previous version of Pocket Streets installed, remove it first and then restart the installation using the instructions below.
  5. Read the Liscense Agreement and click I accept the terms in the agreement and then click Next to continue installing Pocket Streets.
  6. You will be prompted to choose the installation directory. Click Yes to accept the default directory, or click No to browse for a different directory.
  7. In response to the message Please check your mobile device screen to see if additional steps are necessary to complete this installation, click OK.
  8. Click Finish to complete the installation.

Note  If you select either Install Pocket Streets option and your device is not connected to your computer, ActiveSync automatically continues the Pocket Streets installation the next time you connect your device.

Under the following circumstances, you may want to install Pocket Streets separately from MapPoint:

You did not install Pocket Streets when you installed MapPoint.

You installed Microsoft ActiveSync on your computer after installing MapPoint.

A previous installation of Pocket Streets was interrupted.

To install Pocket Streets separately from MapPoint

  1. Make sure that you have the correct version of Microsoft ActiveSync installed on your computer.
  2. Connect your mobile device to your computer, and then insert the MapPoint Setup CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of your computer.
  3. When you see the message, Would you like to reinstall or remove Microsoft MapPoint, click No.
  4. On your computer, right-click the CD-ROM drive icon to display the context menu.
  5. Click Install Pocket Streets for Pocket PC or Install Pocket Streets for Smartphone, and then follow the instructions.

To uninstall Pocket Streets

Note  Before uninstalling Pocket Streets, you may want to remove unwanted map or Pushpin files from your mobile device.

  1. Connect your device to your computer.

  2. On your computer, start ActiveSync, and on the Tools menu, click Add/Remove Programs.

  3. Select Microsoft Pocket Streets, and then click Remove.

    Pocket Streets is removed from your device and your computer.
