Cost budgeting is used to budget costs for specific dimensions.

Click Cost accounting > Journals > Cost budget. Budget costs are planned for a selected budget model, which contains the dimensions.

To create a budget line, you must complete the following fields:

  • Cost category

  • Date

  • Amount

  • Method, which specifies how the budget costs are allocated for the future period

Note

If you select Period or Key in the Method field on the General tab, the Total amount field, which displays the budget costs for a certain future period, is updated automatically.

Click Budget balances in the Cost budget form to view period balances for all kinds of costs.

Click Transaction levels in the Budget balances form to modify the posting layer between the following:

  • Financial accounting

  • Cost accounting direct

  • Cost distribution

  • Allocation
