Architecture

The Microsoft .NET Framework is a general-purpose development platform, suitable for building all types of applications. In contrast, the business framework provides common building blocks and services needed to create typical business applications. The business framework sits on top of the .NET Framework, as shown in the following illustration.

The business framework is used to build the Business Portal. Business Portal features, such as information pages and query pages use capabilities provided by both the business framework and the Business Portal.
