How to: Locate a Field (Report Builder 1.0)

You can locate a field within the data source that contains a specific text string in its name. After you locate the field you are looking for, you can locate it on the Explorer pane.

To locate a field within the data source

  1. In Report Builder design mode, click Search on the Report menu.

    The Search dialog box is displayed.

  2. In the Search text box, enter the text for which you want to search.

  3. Select the search option that you want to use.

  4. Click Find.

    All fields that contain the specified text in their name are displayed in the Search Result box. The results display the field name and the name of the entity in which it is located.


Alternatively, to open the Search dialog box, click the Search button on the Explorer pane.

To locate a search result

  1. In the Search Result box, select the name of the field that you want.

  2. Click OK..

    The entity name is selected in the Explorer pane and the field name is selected in the Fields list.
