Setting Visual Basic Project Properties

Visual Studio .NET 2003

You specify global settings for your project by using project properties. These default settings control the appearance and behavior of the items in your project throughout its life cycle. Properties are saved in the project's .vbproj file, and can be accessed through the Property Pages dialog box.

To access project properties

  1. With a project selected in Solution Explorer, click Property Pages on the View menu.

Notice the two folders in the project's Property Pages dialog box: Common Properties and Configuration Properties. Only the properties in Configuration Properties can be set by project configuration.

  2. Select the Configuration Properties folder. Using the Configuration drop-down list, select the configuration for which you want to set this project's properties.

If you have the Common Properties folder selected, the Configuration drop-down list is unavailable.

  3. In the left pane, select a folder and property page.
  4. In the right pane, set the available properties.
Note   Properties that are dimmed are defined when the project is created; they are displayed for information only.

Getting Help on Properties

Documentation is available for each property page by simply clicking the Help button.
