Remote Data Accessibility and Data Binding

In Visual C++ version 4.2 and later, MFC provides a means to bind simple and complex data controls to any ActiveX data source control, including the RemoteData Control. The new CWnd member functions , , , and provide this functionality.

When you bind the RemoteData Control to a remote database, you can use Remote Data Objects (RDO) to manipulate the RemoteData Control programmatically. When you insert one of these controls into your project, Visual C++ automatically creates the C++ class framework for manipulating them with RDO.

The following samples demonstrate how to use the data-bound controls with the Remote Data Control:

Note   If you are a Visual Basic user, you are accustomed to using the Data source control to bind controls to local databases. In Visual C++, you use the RemoteData Control, instead. The RemoteData Control provides the capability to bind controls to local databases as well as to remote databases.
