keywords Property

The keywords property of an HTML document provides search terms that can be used by Internet search engines to identify the content of your page. You can either enter keywords from the Properties window or from the Keywords tab of the DOCUMENT Property Pages dialog box. Separate keywords with commas. For more information, see Setting the keywords Property of an HTML Document.

Entering values for the keywords property in Visual Studio .NET inserts a <meta name="keywords"> element into the <HEAD> portion of an HTML document. For example, if you type "sports, recreation, outdoor" as the value for the keywords property, the following <meta> element is inserted:

<meta name="keywords" content="sports, recreation, outdoor">

Internet search engines use keywords to rank pages in search results lists.
