Assembler Directives

Visual Studio 6.0

Assembler directives are instructions to the assembler to perform various bookkeeping tasks, storage reservation, and other control functions. To distinguish them from other instructions, directive names begin with a period.

The assembler directives fall into the following categories:

  • Compiler-Use-Only Directives

  • Data Storage Directives

  • Location Control Directives

  • Symbol Declaration Directives

  • Routine Entry Point Definition Directives

  • Repeat Block Directives

  • Assembler Option Directive (.set)

  • Procedure Attribute Directives

  • Version Control Directive (.verstamp)
